Congrats on the chat (I read it live during lunch). Hope it’ll bring even more readers to your site.

Rock on RebelDad! I loved your emphasis on solving problems productively, instead of the Maury Povich approach to sparking controversy.

Just read through the transcript. I still think, based on her comments, that LMS is rather clueless…
And Brian, you forgot to get in a plug for Miriam’s book!!

I tried (to get the plug in), but I didn’t make the cut. I think I was too late.

From Steiner:
“But what I see is that there is a lot of subtle and obvious blaming, judgment, and finger pointing at parents — mostly at moms, because we are easier targets than dads.”
This really pisses me off. What a crock of @#$%!
Steiner and others who feel this way needs a good spanking!

Nicely done Brian. It was refreshing to read some positive, constructive dialogue about issues facing parents, as opposed to something that frames everything in terms of people “warring” with one another.

I thought it was a very good discussion.
I think LMS must either have a jekyll/hyde complex or an evil twin based on the completely different tone and content displayed in the chat vs her blog.

Interesting discussion, and congrats on raising the profile high enough to have it.
I was struck by how old most of the problems raised are, and how old the phrasing is. Also by the upbeat/sympathetic, but not enormously substantive or practical, replies from both sides. I understand the need to be quick and light on the fly, esp for a general audience, but I would’ve liked to hear pointers to more substantial conversations, debate, current legislative initiatives, past initiatives and reasons why they succeeded or failed. Next time, mebbe? I think this kind of thing is necessary if we’re to get out of these ruts, even rhetorically.

Would have appreciated more discussion on single parents. Also a less-than-superficial discussion on the shared parenting issue raised by “Cottonwood, Calif”.
