Dumbest Anti-Dad Piece of 2008?

It’s early in the year, but we may have a candidate for dumbest, most retrograde, anti-at-home dad piece of the year. It’s in the Daily Mail and is clearly intended to outrage, which makes me feel a bit bad for even giving it any attention. Suffice it to say that as long as guys like this are out there — even if they like exaggerating the horrors of child-rearing for literary effect — society will be the worse for it:
One male friend of mine planned to take a year off work to devote himself full-time to fatherhood, after selling the business he worked on night and day for several years. When I called him this week, I could hear him pacing like a caged bear in a Chinese zoo.
‘I’ve got to get a new business up and running,’ he said. ‘I’ve got to get out of the house.’ He had been at home for about six weeks.
‘I just don’t think men have the patience for childcare. Mothers make good mothers and fathers make bad mothers,’ he said.
And he gets bonus dumb-o points for referencing the inherently flawed University of Bristol study. In terms of brute stupidity, this may be tough to top …

Whew, for a moment there I thought that was a serious article and I was going to have to give up my life as an AHD. Thankfully the British have given new rise to a culture I’ll never comprehend or want to - wankers…

Not all Dads are the same. This guys does not represent all of us.
Historically, Dads have tried their best to be good Dads ,but we all have our flaws. But saying dads make bad mothers is inaccurate. The Pursuit of Happyness is very good example of Dads doing amazingly well at parenting.

I wonder what the reaction would be if the Daily Mail wrote “______? Sorry, it’s not a job for the girls”.

Fathers make bad mothers, but perfectly acceptable caged, Chinese bears. Now it all makes sense…
Also, if the desire to get out of the house after six weeks makes someone a bad mother, then I know very few good ones.

I have to admit that the guy has his priorities tangled up with his testosterone…and while this might be hard to top, with guys and gals out there like him, someone will give take a serious run at it!

My wife failed third grade arithmetic, and never got any further. What does that tell you? But she is just a whiz at everything else, so she leaves the handling of the checking account to me.
