Pampers First, Now Graco

Note to baby-product makers: alienating half of your potential market is not a bright move for you (and frustrating for those of us out here trying to make the point that dads and moms are equally capable of parenting. And buying stuff.).

Maybe it’s because Dad’s know that the Pack n Play is a waste of money. Dad’s can arrange a safe place to play and sleep without giving Graco any money.

Then again, some dads know that the Pack-n-Play is brilliant. We wouldn’t switch ours out for love or money, insulting packaging be damned.

It’s just another symbol of the constant oppression of men in America

Has anyone noticed the tag line for American Baby magazine.. “Mom to Mom. Woman to Woman.”

Besides making some SAHDs mad, the slogan also presupposes the possession of some form of ESP. How can I tell if a particular mom knows or not? Maybe they just forgot their punctuation. Perhaps it should be: Ask a Mom. Who knows?

Looking over their website (http://www.gracobaby.com), where, btw, you can contact them, it’s interesting to note that the company began with an invention by a man. The company’s advertising department is obviously stuck in the 50s, though, which may also be an advertising ploy, something to make people think of a simpler time. A time when “his” was the indeterminate pronoun to use, rather than “his/her” or the use of the plural “their” even when the subject is singular.

    Their motto should be
    ASK PARENTS WHO KNOW.

Let us not forget Jif peanut butter. Choosy moms choose Jif, so this dad buys another brand.
