Quick hits today … nothing too groundbreaking. One week after I argued that gay at-home fatherhood has been a largely ignored element of the at-home dad universe, the Portland Tribune put out a nice bit on the phenomenon.

How confident is Full-Time Father in his at-home dad-ness? Confident enough to go on Bill O’Reilly with a dirty shirt.

Really want to get away? Join at-home dad Jim Rogalskiamong the headhunters of Malaysia.

Finally, I stumbled onto the blog of a an Australian househusband who seems to enjoy his gig a great deal …

Do you really want to plug Paranzino’s odious political views? He’s the kind of guy who gives stay-at-home dads a bad name.

Have you read this smug intro to his Website?

“If you are a “stay at home” parent because you can’t hold a job, this site is not for you. If you are a reluctant “at home” parent who simply does it because your spouse can make more money than you, this site is not for you.”

I mean, give me a break. Who cares why someone is a stay-at-home parent? Let’s support each other without engaging in daddier-than-thou one-upmanship.

As far as I’m concerned, why would you NOT want to do it!

I don’t plug anyone’s political views. As far as this site is concerned, I have zero opinion on anything other than parenthood and its intersection with the working world. I don’t talk about Ronald Reagan or national defense or supply-side economics. I just found it funny that we had an at-home dad on O’Reilly wearing a dirty shirt.

Mike’s intro suggests a focus on dads who stay home out of choice, not out of obligation. He clearly means it as a pride thing.

I think I’ve been pretty clear that I’m interested in all iterations of the at-home dad life … be they left, right, up or down. It’s a big tent over here.
